THE BEST PLACE TO READ A GOOD BOOK!
There are some locations on Earth where your Kindle or E Book reader doesn’t work so well. If we ignore the fact that the photo above seems to indicate that the author is reading his own book, we can see how strong natural light would make an electronic device ineffective; and also a bit messy after you have returned from your swim. Your device is also unwieldy if you wish to read during sex or other physical activities.
Actually, quite a few people speed-read during their treadmill exercises and, I believe, Lewis Hamilton, once he attains an unassailable lead in the Driver’s Championship, likes to absorb a few chapters in-between bends at Monte Carlo and Silverstone. For me, reading is best appreciated when there is no prospect of interruption. Outdoors is always good, although sometimes you can be pestered by chirping birds, in which case it is prudent to take a shotgun along with you.
Another place you shouldn’t take your Kindle is the bath. I’m not saying don’t read in the bath; everyone does it. However, I am losing too many prospective customers to unfortunate bathroom misfortunes, not that I have too much sympathy for those who do their ironing while in the bath. It is common knowledge that people like Bill Gates and Elon Musk read at least one book a week and this doesn’t slow them down. They just adapt. If either gentleman is interviewing you while reading a book, don’t be demoralized. They know how to multi-task. This is not just the domain of women.
You may not be surprised to learn that there is no moral epitaph to my October contribution. I just wanted to remind everyone that paper is not yet dead and our words and pictures will remain relevant in perpetuity. Please continue to read them in all forms, at all times, in all places.
